1989 W124 Driver Door Mirror - Shell remove/replace.
Hi
An appeal for any tips and advice on driver door rear view mirror. My mirror is knackered plus internal manual adjust mechanism is missing. Have been offered very cheap complete replacement but shell is wrong colour (Hey I am not complaining!). My question is - how do I remove shell and install to 'new' mirror assembly without damage? (Any pics would be a real bonus). 1989 230TE Smoke Silver 145500 miles. (I know 2.3 not imported to USA but I believe door mirrors are standard). Thanks

Thanks for that - it is useful to me. However, there is still the business of swapping out the body coloured shell on the mirror housing. Grateful for any advice on this aspect. NormanB

Politely and without any implied criticism he posted to push the topic back to the top. Grateful for all the help he can get on this one! ;-)

The mirror glass needs to be removed and I believe you do this by grabbing the edges carefully and remove from the adjusting base.
From here you should be able to see the bolts/screws that hold the mirror housing together. Haasman
