Seem to be leaking quite a bit from the upper front cover in my 300E (vintage 86)...
My tech says he will replace the seal this Friday, and he is reasonable and thorough (and usually throws in a good european beer or two - after the work's been done!). Is there anything in particular I should know about this job, and any other work that is convenient to do along with it? Thanks for your advice, -Nick |

While he's at it Nick, check the rotor and cap. Might not be a bad idea to take a look at the chain as well.

Nick,
Not much else to do while you're there, other than what Jeff's suggested...been there, did only that front seal and my cap & rotor.. ------------------ Best regards, Michael '92 500E '88 300TE |

I have NEVER replaced a timing chain in a 103. They are short and do not usually stretch. The cover should be installed with the specail MB sealant. I think that Doc knows the Loctite # for it...
