though probably not the primary cause of fault condition...

suggest removing air cleaner and cleaning-lubing the many accel linkage pivot points...include lubing accel pedal pivot assembly inside the driver's foot well>>> there may be a binding point(s) that can be freed with cleaning and lube

I've just done this on my '92 300e 2.6 and this maintence improved accel input (feel) tremendously
