Mel,
I used the loctite 5999 to seal the upper timing covers. I too had oil leaking from the distributor area - both the camshaft seals and the upper timing covers. Removal and Installation of the distributor caps to gain access to the camshaft seals. This might be of help too..... * Remove and install intake air hose. * Model 124: remove and install air scoops. * Unclip and take off shielding caps (1) and (1a) at the side. * Unbolt high voltage distributors (2) and (2a). * Unbolt distributor rotor (3). Tighten to 2.5 Nm on reassembly. * Unbolt driver (4). Tighten to 9 Nm on reassembly Installation Note: The slot of the driver (4) must engage in the locating pin in the camshaft. * Take off protective cover (5) together with seal (6). * Installation is reverse of removal procedure. Observe installation note and tightening torques.
