w202 alternator - where is voltage regulator?

Just looking down into the engine compartment, I can't see the VR. It is on the radiator side of the alternator?

Thanks.

It is built into the rear of the alt. behind the black plastic cover where the cables connect.

So, does that mean I have to pull the alternator? Or does that cover come off while in place?

Is this alternator even serviceable so that I can replace the regulator or do I have to replace the entire alternator?

Also, anyone have any experience removing the alternator? Thanks.

Well, I pulled the alternator and cracked it open. Got the old voltage regulator out, but I'm still waiting on my new one to show up in the mail.

If anyone's interested in this, just let me know, I took a few pics.

It was fairly simple, albeit a knuckle busting, job. Plus, the space in there is so tight, that I had to squeeze the alternator past the air filter housing.

Thanks.
