S500 Auto dimming mirror wiring info needed

There are three wires for connection on this homelink/auto dimming mirror. Brown, blue/white and red.

Can anyone tell me which wires are +12 volts, ground and which one is for the reverse bypass? I can make some logical deductions here but don't want to destroy this mirror. Normally, brown is ground on Mercedes, that leaves the blue/white and the red. The homelink transmitter only has two wires, a brown and a blue/white, which leads me to believe the blue/white is +12 volts.

Any one have a wiring diagram to confirm this?

What S500 are you talking about - W140 or W220? In any car there are more than 3 wires for the mirror.
Here are the wires for W140 as of 97:
Black/Red -- +12V
Brown -- Ground
Pink/Black - output1 for driver side mirror
Pink/Red - output2 for driver side mirror
Pink/Green -- Dome Light ON
Grey/Yellow - Reverse

Regards, Mike

Can't tell you exactly what year this mirror is from but its the rear view mirror with homelink. I have the whole mirror pulled apart right now. There are only three wires to the plug like I said. This mirror must be from a car without auto dimming side mirrors.

The brown, blue/white and red wires go to a plug that connects to the circuit board of the mirror. On the same plug, a brown and blue/white come out of the plug and go to the Homelink transmittor.

This mirror has a large flat mounting base with a handsfree mic mounted in it. That may not help identify it but I can not locate any MB part number on the mirror. Maybe its a pre-1997 mirror.

Anyway, it at least sounds like the ground is the brown wire, thats 1/3rd of the way there

Maybe these pics will help

How did you get the back of the mirror off. I have the same thing except I have a Brown (gnd) , a dual Blue/Grey, a White/black, a white/green and a white/red. None of these seem to match the kist above.

Thanks

It's a clam shell. "Carefully" squeeze the front piece were you see the tabs shown above. BE GENTLE!
