w124 steering problem

I have a '88 300te and last weekend I overloaded the car with a trip to the lake. Since then I have excessive play in the steering box. What could one possibly have with the other? Does the Hydraulic susp. have connection to steering system? Where should I look for a solution? Any help a help.
