door wiring short...

I have a sligtly odd problem after installing a set of new speakers..

every now and again, when going over bumps, the interior lights come on, flashing...

i can get them to flash by thumping the door card near the speaker.

by process of elimination, the wire for the door courtosy (sp?) light has to be being shorted to somthing. when the lights are ON, if you press up or down on the window, the light goes off...

has anyone got a wiring diagram / colour (sorry - color for you guys ) chart for the inside of a W140 door? it would help a lot, and save a lot of time.

email it if you can? guy@dewdney .co .uk

That sounds like it could be a problem with the door switch (or switches).
Test those first.

Next I would be concerned that the switch wires were somehow damaged during the speaker install.
