While driving home yesterday with the A/C off and the fan on max, the fan suddenly quit. It now does not work in any position. Also, the A/C compressor wheel now won't turn on the compressor. (Even with the blower off, I can tell when the compressor is on; it sucks off a ton of engine power.) I assume the heater still works, since that's just manual valves to allow the coolant to flow through the heater core. I'm guessing it's an electrical problem.

This is not the pushbutton climate control system; I've got two knobs/dials for the heater (one on each side), one dial for the blower, and a wheel next to the sunroof switch for the A/C compressor.

Any hints on where to start looking? I checked the fuse, it looked fine; I replaced it anyway, but that changed nothing. That fuse controls a lot of other stuff anyway, and the only thing that's stopped is the climate control. I've got the electrical troubleshooting manual but haven't looked in it yet; I'll take a look when I get home.

Please help - it's HOT down here!

Thanks.

Be sure you look at both fuses; F8 and F14 seem to be the ones with F8 being the only one that could knock out both the blower and the compressor.

If it isn't a fuse then it has to be the power to the fuse or the blower switch. Thses are the only things that could affect both systems at once (blower and compressor control).

Ah, that's it. I was looking at F1, which reads "Heater and ventilation controls." I didn't realize there was one fuse for the controls and a second fuse for the blower/compressor. F8 is blown.

Thanks!
