lowering 1993 300 TE

HI, I have a 1992 300 TE with 88k miles that is in really super condition. I am wanting to do several things to the car and was wondering if anybody out there has lowered one.

In looking around I found that H&R makes drop coil springs (appxy. 1.2") for the front and back. So I am tentatively planning on doing it like this:
1) H&R springs front and rear.
2) Bilstein sport shocks in the front and leave the self levelling units in in the rear
3) 17x7.5 AMG wheels with 35et
4)215/45/17 or 215/50/17 tires.

Has anybody done this? How about getting rid of the self levelling suspension and replacing it with different springs and standard shocks? I did that with an 89 735il BMW and it worked out real well. Will standard shocks work in the rear?

Comments are appreciated,

William Hutchens
