Diagnostics 1989 260e W124

Once again, does anybody know if a diagnostics socket exists on this model. If so where is it located. If I am correct, this model has the Bosch CIS-E management system. Correct me if I am wrong. I used the TRISCO Palm Scanner on the 1995 W140 for reading fault codes but wonder if I can use this system on the W124 model.

Diagnostics on a 1989 MB W124

I am looking for the same info. Once I went to MB official garage and they said it has a socket with 9 pins for that. It is located close to ignition system, has a black cover numbered 2015400282 in my MB 300E 1989.

Your car should have the same.

However, I donīt know where to find a scanner for my car so far.
If you learn about that, please send me your findings.

Oldbeaver.

"9-Pole Diagnostic Connector (1980-94)
The 9-pole Diagnostic Connector is used on earlier model vehicles. It can display
on-off ratio fault codes (1986 and later), RPM and Lambda sensor values. Various
on-off ratio Meters are available that provide access to this type of diagnostic
connector. Call Baum Tools at 800-848-6657 or 941-927-1414 for more information
on these meters."

Any DMM with Duty Cycle will work and they are easy to find.

diagnostic connector

there is a connector just in front of the battery in the engine compartment. there is a black button and a red led light to check for codes. is the check engine light on? if so with the key in position 2. key on engine off press the black button for 3 seconds and then see how many times the light blinks. this will indicate what code you have. you may have more than one. after that you will have to look up the code and do some testing. hope this helps
