I need to replace the gearshift bushing on my 1990 190 E 2.6 automatic transmission. It seems to be very tight between the trans and tunnel. Is there a trick to make this job easy?

Remove the bolt on the selector lever at the bottom, slide it off the shaft, disconnect the linkage from the upper end and replace your bushing..
