What is this part , and what does it do?

Sorry no pictures but it is located just behind the engine shock on the pass. side. It lookes like some kind of sensor. It is pushed into the engine and is held in with a " C " clip. It has a bullet type conn. and is beige in color.

Sounds like the connector for the oil level sensor. Is it leaking oil? There is an o-ring that can be replaced.

Yes, you will also need to remover the lower oil pan. A gasket will be needed for that as well.

Please excuse my ignorance but is this sensor pushed thru the engine block from the inside then held on with the C clip?
