Angry Brown sticky goo from heater vents!

My cars non a/c heater system is driving me nuts!

The passenger side blows hot air while the drivers side works, with the blower running everything fogs up in the damp autumn weather. The cause seems to be the control dial on the passenger side which is'nt turning whatever valve controls the heat.

The other thing which may be related is the appearence of a very sticky brown liquid which is gathering in a small pool under the carpet of the drivers side and more of same on passenger side also at the lowest point in the system - ie the air vents which feed heat to the rear of the cabin.

Has anyone some wisdom to share on this...

Mike.

Degrading carpet glue?

Regarding the brown sticky substance, if it is what I think it is, look at This Thread

Thanks for that link!

I haven't had any come through my carpeting, but, one day while digging under the dash, I decided to take apart an electrical connector, and found it covered in a sticky goo. It had the consistency of thick honey, and was close to yellow..
Thinking about it the only reason it looks dark in my car is cos its settled on black plastic...

Heat is the common factor as is location ie glue "melting" and dropping to lowest level.

I feel slightly better now! The car is going to be checked over next week...
