Talking Need teck help Diesel Purge E300TD

I have tried Teck and Diesel forums, to get help, on the procedure to run Diesel Purge thru my 1998 e300td. I have not been successful except a suggestion to fill fuel filter. Is this the only way?

heres what you should do- warm up the engine- have a quart of clean diesel on hand in something that you can pour from. next, attatch a peice of 8mm or 5/16 hose from the pre fuel filter (the small plastic one down on the drivers side),and into the diesel purge can. Be sure its to the bottom. next, take the return line from the spin on filter to the line that goes back to the tank and remove it from the line . put this in the purge bottle. now the car will run off its new fuel tank, the purge can. now run the car.keep an eye on the level in the purge can. you do not want to run out. when the level gets low, fill the purge can with more purge (if you had 2 cans) or diesel fuel. remember most of the purge will be in the spin on filter, so keep the engine going until the quart is gone or the 2nd can of purge and the qt. are gone. this will make sure that the purge was as close to full strength as it was run through. idle engine for the whole process. good luck...

Which line is which? I counted them once, and I think there were at least 5. This is not the same as an OM617. (Trying to help you here, Ronnie)

Purge

Take your car to a tech before you attempt this. I respectfully submit that if you don't know how to do a diesel purge, then you don't know if it really needs a diesel purge. Again. I don't mean any disrespect. I learned the hard way on my 95 e300d. Wished someone would have told me more convincingly. I'm heardheaded.

You are right, I don't know for sure it needs a diesel purge. I do know the it has 82,000 miles on it , I've had it since 30,000, the fuel milage has gotten worse and many of the guys purge at lease twice a year. I just spent $400 having my glow plugs replaced and I think I can do this job my-self (with a lot of help).
As far as which hose to remove, I'am still not sure which one. there are two small hoses coming off the filter. Are we talking about the one closest to the wheel. Any more help would be appreciated. Thanks Ready-Ronnie
