grinding noise from rear brake at start or during parking
1992 MB 300D
When I brake while I drive, there is no noise. However, while I am turning the steering wheel with brake pedal pressed, I hear grinding noise from rear brake. In addition, sometimes when I release the brake pedal to go, I hear grinding noise from rear brake. Is something going wrong? |

Yes there is something wrong. Have your brake system checked by a pro.

Actually, that noise developed after MB dealer did parking brake job (replacing rear rotors, etc.) (October) and an independent replacing front rotors and pads (November).
I talked about this problem to a service manager and a mechanic at the dealer but they said it is OK. They said the situation (pressing brake pedal and rotate steering wheel) is abnormal, not the noise. They said the sound will go away as some surface rust goes away. However, I still hear the noise. I also visited that dealer 3 times for transmission leak. Last edited by ktlimq; 11-21-2003 at 03:36 PM. |

In addition, when I rotate the steering wheel while pressing the brake pedal, the car moves a little.
The noise come at the moment when the rear wheel rotates a few degrees. The dealer had replaced stopper (the dealer said the worn rupper at the stopper makes high tone noise when the steering is at full lock position, but I still hear high tone noise). |
