Question Cylinder head interchangability

I'm trying to help my father in law fix a 1971 280se which needs a new cylinder head. I have not had any prior exposue to Meredes and can't find any documentation to decode the engine numbers and compatable swaps.

I'm jumping the gun a bit because I don't have all the VIN or castings numbers yet. He has teh 6 cyl single OHC, with fuel injection. The engine code is 130.980.
What's my chances of finding a head off a newer car which will work on this engine? If the engine # is enough which year's of head will work. I found lots of 78-84 cars in the junk yard which looked to have potiential.

advTHANKSance
Fred
