How to remove valve cover?
I am planning on taking the valve cover off tomorrow for some refinishing and I was wondering if there was a special procedure to it? Do I just take off the bolts and pull the cover? Do I need to replace any gaskets/seals before I reseat the new cover? I have never done this before so any help is appreciated.

I would recommend having a new gasket on hand. You will want to clean everything real good before going back with the cover. Why are you pulling it off anyway? During installation do not tighten the fasteners down much at all. Better yet use a 1/4" drive socket wrench. They are just snugged down.

They are sometimes stuck in place - nice to have a rubber mallet around. I would agree, new gasket, unless you know it had one recently. Should be about $10.

Make sure when re-installing that the U shaped portion of the gasket (by the firewall) seats correctly.

Look to make sure that there are no fuel lines in the way, and if there are, make sure you know what you are doing and have the proper tools (line wrenches) to do it.
