Ambient temp display is low

On my 93 400E the ambient temperature display appears OK but the actual temp displays a reading about 18-20 degrees F. too low. What would cause this to happen and what is the best way to resolve this issue?
Thank you...

Check resistance value of the sensor, plugs in under the fuse box.

At 68F the sensor should read 3750+-50ohms
At 32F the sensor should read 9800+-100 ohms.
