I have a 1994 C220 (103K) and noticed today
when I floor the car, the transmission doesn't kick down and to a lower gear and
give you that acceleration you expect..instead it just keeps plodding along in the same gear (but a little faster).
Right now my 1985 190E 2.3 (my car) is peppier than the C220.

Anything to check? control cables? vacuum?
Kickdown relay? Will changing transmission fluid help? It's overdue anyways. Do I need to change the filter at the same time -- my MBZ tech says not since it's a strainer. Also...I assume it takes Dexron III fluid?

Thanks,
Chandra

There is a kickdown switch behind the accelerator pedal. Check for function and proper connection.

Checked the switch - looks to be OK.
Any other ideas?

Don't go by looks. This is a normally open switch. Pull the connector, use either an ohmmeter or a continuity tester. Make sure the switch is closing when you step on the pedal. Test it while it's in place.
