Heat/Air Duct problem???
As the subject line indicates, I'm not sure what kind of problem I have.
When I start up my 95 E320 wagon, there is a sort of muffled pop under the dash behind (I think) the center vents. The image I have is of a baffle that is opening...sticking, then opening with a pop. Thinking it was probably a baffle in the air duct work, I've tried to duplicate it by switching to the various climate control modes, but it only happens on start-up. I've searched the forum and gone through my CD looking for something...but haven't found anything yet that sounds like the culprit. Anybody have an idea? Thanks, AH |

Sounds like the main flap slamming open/shut as soon as it receives vacuum from the now started engine. The 560 does that if I have the ACC set to off, it slams with a solid thud on start-up.

my 92 400e does similar.... a muffled "thud - thud -thud" when the heater temps are used. I've also noticed that I do not have airflow from my passenger floor vent...
Could that be the vacuum attempting to open a stuck passenger floor vent flap? If so, is it accessable for easy repair?
