Starting problem 1989 260E

Tried to start 1989 260E today. Already started this morning no problem.Five minutes engine cranking but no start. I put a volt meter across the terminals at the coil to check voltage on cranking and engine started immediately. I have started it a couple of times since with no problem. Does it sound like the beginning of a bad coil.

My FIRST guess from your post would be bad connection somewhere. Check everything you touched to hook up the voltmeter, and in general everything you did between the no-start and return to normal.
