CD changer maintenance.

The CD changer in the ML is having problems changing CDs when the temp is down. It works fine once the car has been in sue for half hour or so. I'm guessing something needs to be lubed. But what? Any suggestions?

TIA

I would be careful when opening up the changer. You won't want to have some springs popped out or anything. Maybe it just needs some lubrication. See if you can drop some white lithium grease without opening up the case. If not, just be careful when you open it up.

I would let a qualified technician do a " clean & tune " on it.

RE: CD Changer

I had this problem on a Volvo 960. They are making CD Changers cheaper & cheaper now, and this seemed to be the problem on the Volvo. It worked, then it wouldn't even eject the cartridge, with all my CD's stuck in it!! I took it all apart, and this is very straightforward. Just be careful, don't loose any screws, etc. Nothing will fall out. The cartridge can be manually removed. Once this is done, I lubed with a light oil every moving part i could find, staying away from the lens, of course. The CD-Changer now works perfectly. SO.....If yours fails again, take it apart and lube it. Volvo wanted $100 to fix, I don't know what yours cost. I guess mine is a "repair," while yours is "maintenance."
