Can someone verify that the pn# for the Neutral Safety Switch for a 1995 E320 wagon is 000.545.49.06 ?
Also, is the bushing in questions pn# 115.992.03.10 (it's a hard clearish plastic bushing), or is it roller pn# 126.278.00.17 Thanks, :-) neil Last edited by ke6dcj; 05-05-2008 at 07:04 PM. |

I had to check the WIS, the correct pn# is still: 000.545.49.06
As such, I had a new one in stock, replaced it, and all is well. :-) neil BTW: the two clearish plastic bushings are pn# 115.992.03.10 |

Another curious thing - I've been doing several maintenance things to the car, and it's sat for quite a while because I was deployed. Just now getting back to finishing it up. Under the dash, next to the ignition cylinder, there are two wires leading up to a connector that's not touching anything. The wires are red w/ white, and red w/ green. Any idea if that's related to this? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

See if the reverse lights work, when you put the shifter in R, report back.

Just checked - the reverse lights do not work when the shifter is in R. Also, spinning the white collar on the NSS does not seem to cause them to come on regardless of position.

mmmm, I think that one you loosen the attaching bolts and the whole switch moves to adjust it? Put it in R again and try adjusting til reverse lights come on. There is a fancy way involving a hole in the switch, another in the trans housing, and a 1/8" drill bit. But adjusting in R til the R lights come on works too.

That white collar is just the lock ring for the plug..the rotational adjustment of NSS is in Gilly's thread.

You guys rock. I definitely let my guard down and got hit with an ID10T error on this one. When I reconnected the shift linkage, I installed the bracket that goes to the transmission end backwards, so the section that should have slipped over the plastic tab on the NSS didn't touch it. Dropping the linkage and flipping it solved the problem immediately. Thanks for helping out a poor lost soul!
