Rust is almost never in only one area.

As I pointed out the economics of that car mean that at the first system failure it's history. I'm not sure rust will interfere with your usefull life of such a vehicle.

I pesonally don't believe in $1500 cars for the above reasons unless you need a hobbie. In such a case I wouldn't start with a rusty car. You can never get back the body; everything else can be fixed.
