Dash lights
I have been complaining about my instrument cluster dash lights since I had my car (approx 2yrs), I finally asked a mechanic to fix this problem while he did other repair work on my car.
He took the entire cluster out, cleaned everything (prism, all pastic parts, etc), replaced both bulbs w/OEM bulbs (3w I think-mechanic only uses OEM parts), the sockets they go into, and solered (spelling?) in a new ground wire. Now my dash is TOO BRIGHT! hehehe. Just kidding. I love it. Feels like I'm in a new car. Everythig works in my dash (RPM & clock stopped was not working prior to removing the cluster) except the economy guage. Hope this experience will help others. jrmd01@yahoo.com

One of the many things I love about my wagon is the dash lights being similar to incandescent top lit as oppossed to lit from behind in some color. Much easier on the eyes. Those Audi red background dashboards would drive me nuts. Good for you.
