where can I get a center console wood replacement
I just purchaced a 1988 300sel and the interior is perfect except for the center console wood cracking. Where can I get a replacement. This is my first benz and man am I proud of it. Very easy to work on. The Germans had the mechanic in mind when they built this car

You can get one from several places. The dealer - big $$$$, the salvage yard - short $$$ but you'll have to dig through a bunch of cars to find a good one, or you could even spring to have yours refinished - back to big $$$$ (but less than new). Some here have tried refinishing at home with varying results. Have you tried doing a search of the threads on this site?

Your wood isn't really cracked.
It's the varnish that cracks. It is fairly inexpensive to send it out and get it professionally refinished. There are two guys that specialize in refinishing Mercedes wood: one guy is in California, and the other guy is in North Carolina. I have seen pieces that have been refinished, and they come back looking absolutely perfect.
