Question Power Steering Pump Rebuild

Just wondering how many guys have rebuilt their power steering pumps? I know there are rebuild kits for Porsche cars but not sure for MB cars. They consist of gaskets and seals and are pretty easy to do!

Antone out there ever try one? Mine groans a lot when very cold, about 5-10 degrees F.

Resealing is about all that can be done,

I have seen the shaft bushings wear out and I guess they are pretty much junk after that. I would change out the fluid first and see if that does the trick.

In my experience groaning is usually caused by air in the system.

On the pumps for the diesels, which I assume are the same, the kit I got DIDN'T include the shaft seal. No matter because I could never get it to pump again after I rebuilt it. Haven't tried another, one screwed up is enough I must have taken it back apart 3 or 4 times. Really didn't seem that complicated but I must have been doing something wrong. I will be interested to see if other folks have had any problems. Please post your results if you do it.
