how/why would the upper control arm be like this on a 420SEL (picture)
My family is looking at a 420SEL and one of the problem other than the fact that it "misfires" the right front wheel he said leans it a little, but not noticable unless you look for it? Anyways, he sent us about 30 pictures this afternoon and this one of them. We have not seen this car in person, my dad spoke with him on the phone, and that was it.

The sway bar isn't connected to the upper control arm. I think it can be repaired.

So the sway bar isn't broken? I just replaced those bushings on my w116 that are on the side of the U. Control arm ino the middle. So it just needs those metal washer things and the bushings? Shouldn't there also be more there like a hex bolt to lock the larger 24mm into place?
Thanks David

From what I know, and I've never had a 126 front sway bar or upper control arm off the car, the sway bar tapers so a shoulder that slips into bushings in the upper control arm. A bolt goed into the shoulder from the front.
I'm not sure what I see in the picture but it looks like the shoulder fell off and the remaining end of the sway bar was pounded to look like a flat mushroom. If that's the case, I doubt it can be repaired in place. Check out this thread - <http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/showthread.php?threadid=76052&highlight=sway+bar> I'll look for the follow-up by DslBnz. I know his car is back on the road without major surgery. Sixto 95 S420 87 300SDL |

Maybe it was major surgery -
