if you have had a w126 suspension apart, especially the upper control arm...
This is one of the problems on a 420SEL that we are looking at. Is the swaybar broken off or is it just missing the part that goes through the upper control arm?

Need a shot from another angle to be 100% sure but it looks like it has a broken sway bar. Here is what it should look like

Agree with Jim, need to try and get a shot looking in from the front. The sway bar may be broken or the bolt may be broken/missing. It does seem odd that the sway bar is sitting so far in the wheelwell, it should be much closer to the large opening in the upper control arm.

Must be broken if you look at it's length from the bend to the end compared to the other photo........
