Mirror Glass Replacement

Saw an article about the W124, I need to replace the mirror glass, drivers side on a W123 coupe. Same deal? Carefully pry off the old mirror and put in the new being careful about some kind of spring??

Thanks.

while my 126 is not your 124 the application of the mirror is likely similar.

first DON'T pry anything. lightly lift or push the mirror to it's extremes where you can see the back side. you will find under the mirror plate there should be a somewhat fine wire i'm guessing about .030. that wire goes around and acts like a sir clip or snap ring if you will. get yourself a fine hook. i use dental tools. once you can reach the wire carefully hook the loop and lightly pull back. if you can see the wire seperating from the mirror back go ahead and take it off. the mirror will just come off.

when you reinstall you wrap the wire on then lightly push it back on.

good luck
