which brand of serpentine belt?
My 87 300 E's serpentine belt squeaks as it had coolant spilled on it in Dec. As the noise is still present I want to just change the belt. Does it make a diff which brand? Ebay has one for $20 + $5 shipping. Which brand is best? Should I try to file down my belt? Belt dressing helps only temporarily.
Thanks |

Order one from Fastlane. I bought one from an aftermarket place made by Continental. It is working fine so far. I may have tensioner issues, how's yours?

As far as I know the tensioner is ok. Checked at last tech session and belt dressing eliminated noise temporarily.
So brand does not seem to matter? Why does the coolant on the belt problem not just go away with time? |

Coolant will leave a film behind, did you try sparying some full strength Simple Green on the belt, or something similar?

I'd get a Conti belt for your 300E which can be had about $16 on the internet. It's OEM and German made.
