Back trunk lid won't stay up.
I have a 1999 C230. Last night when I opened up the back trunk, it felt like the trunk lid is loosing elasticity because it kept falling down and didn't stay up. Is there anything I could check before I bring my car to the dealership?
Thanks in advance

tseinsf (man that's hard to pronounce), I'm not sure about your model but i know some of the older models have springs that counterweigh the trunk lid. And if you look at the springs (you may have to remove the side linings of the trunk), you might see that the springs have a couple of positions where they can hook to the body mounts. Sometimes if you move the springs to the second position, they will hold up the trunk better. Take a look and look at the geometry to see if this will help.

The W202 chassis uses regular springs to hold the trunk open, VERY easy to replace OR adjust position of the trunk springs.
