Does anyone know the part number for the spark plugs for this car on this site and what else I need to get. It has been 20,000 miles since last tune up. Do I need new wires and caps? How often should I change the transmission fluid.
The plugs and tranny fluid was changed 1 year ago (approx. 18,000 miles ago) ------------------ '89 420 SEL '90 300 SEL '84 300 SD (sold it) |

There is no real tune up on these electronically regulated engines. You can replace the cap and rotor about every 80 to 100k and the plugs every 15k.
The tranny will go 30k. ------------------ Benzmac: Donnie Drummonds 1991 GMC Syclone ASE CERTIFIED MASTER AUTO TECHNICIAN SERVICE MANAGER FOR 14 BAY FACILITY MERCEDES SPECIALIST 8 YRS PARTNER IN MERCEDESSHOP.COM |

Thanks Benz. I assume that when you mean "Cap", that means the wires, too.
So really, all I need to do is just change the plugs. Wow, my "tune up" is only going to cost me $20, hurray! ------------------ '89 420 SEL '90 300 SEL '84 300 SD (sold it) |

So if I understand correctly, all I have to do is order the plugs and get a torque wrench to out them back on. What are the ramifications if I don't use a torque wrench?
Does anyone know what part number the plugs and the wrench are ?? Should I buy that plu remover wrench too? ------------------ '89 420 SEL '90 300 SEL '84 300 SD (sold it) |
