I have a 1988 300sel with 93000 original miles, transmission fluid appears to be clean and up to level. I have a intermitent problem with shifting. On occasion while I am driving my transmission will down shift to 3rd gear. then only once in a while it will slip. Seems to be from third to forth. Normally it behaves excellant with smooth shifting. Can anyone help??

Hi Ron,

MB recommends transmission fluid and filter change every 30,000 miles. How long has it been? That would be my first step.
