Why is my "you have a light out" idiot light flashing?
1991 190E 2.6
I knew that my high beam on one side went out about 6 weeks ago -- no I haven't changed it yet. My bulb out indicator on the dash did NOT light up, though, to tell me that. However, about 2 weeks ago the bulb did light up and I discovered that my right brake light was out. I replaced it and it works fine. Now, though, the bulb indicator is still on. Actually, it kind of flutters on and off in a rapid pattern. This makes my AM reception noisy from the interference. Also, if I put my foot on the brake pedal the indicator light goes off. The light indicates whether or not I have my headlights, parking light, fog lights on or off. I have check and rechecked and I do NOT have a brake light out anymore. Any ideas?

I think the fluttering light may be the key to this problem.
Sounds like a loose/wiggly connection ( possibly in one of the bulb sockets ). One thing to do....check each & every one very carefully.

Thanks, guys. When I get home I'll pull the covers in the trunk and check them all for looseness. Sounds reasonable.
As for the headlight, I've been holding off because I was considering going to Euros. But, alas, I believe I'll use the $300 toward something else. Anyone know where I can get new headlight frames for less than the $120 or so I see on Ebay? The dingyness/crackiness of those frames is about the only thing that gives away the fact that my car is actually 13 years old.

Just guessing...
Did you use Osram bulbs when you changed the bad one?? While something else may fit and light up, it can (from what i have read here) cause quirky electrical stuff.
