line on temp gauge above 80c, is that90c or 100

maybe a dumb question, but would feel better if i knew for sure.
88 124 it goes 40 to 80 to 120c.
there is one short line above the 80.
it would really be nice if it was 90c, one can only hope
thanks rich

If your engine NEVER went above 90C then it would not be functioning completely as it was designed to.

well the temp runs from90-105c.
that is probubly ok
90 on the freeway
90-105 around town.
the problem is when it goes to 105, then the gauge goes up by itself. i used a infared gun to check temp,so the gauge is the problem. some times when i tap the dash the temp drops from 120 to 90. the other day i pulled the round plug on the back of the dash on and off a number of times and it works a little better now. this makes me a little(?) crazy at times.
because i am short on cash now,i'm not sure if i should run a second gauge, in the ash tray, or wait till i can find a good used one. prefer to have it right.
can the temp gauge be changed by itself or does the left side cluster need to be changed out.
it does work right most of the time, i'll try and clean that round connector. not sure what to use though.this is the only thing that does not work which almost makes it worse. for a 3,000 dollar car thats not 2 bad. sure love driving this car.
well thanks for the above answer rich

You may want to try a temperature sending unit before buying a new gauge.. its a cheap fix, and worth a try..
