Considering 1990 300E and 1986 190E- which is more reliable?
I am considering a 1990 300E in like new condition for $4300 (186K) and a 1986 190E in VGC for $1800 (151K). Does anyone know which one seems to be the most reliable? Both are well maintained cars. The 300E is in like new condition inside and out. I have heard some bad things about the 300E, but not sure. I am also considering some other cars (new and older models) German and Japanese cars, but want to get some input on these cars as well. Thanks!!

Given the two choices above, I would choose the 300E. They are both great cars, but the 300E is newer in the model series. In 1990, if I recall correctly, the valve stem seals were updated plus other improvements.

I would go for the 300E, without a doubt.

300E - more room, and a great inline-6 under the hood.

Thanks for the replies. Does this seem like a fair price for this car?
