300 TE oil light
I seem to be getting a false oil warning lamp reading. There is plenty of oil in the engine, the oil pressure is staying at 3 when running and idling down around 1.5 where it always does, but occasionally, the amber oil warning lamp comes on.
any thoughts?

One interesting posibility is in the gauge itself. The gauge has a delay to the light. It is to keep the light from coming on after hard stopping or cornering where the oil runs one way dropping the gauge level. See if the problem only occurs after such events.

It comes on when you a quart low. I believe it has a 20 second delay if I'm not mistaken. There is a sensor for the oil level located at the oil pan. Perhaps the sensor is bad?
