Unhappy 200 ml oil consumption

My 2000 ml 320 has been using 1 .5 qts every 10,00 miles. Not bad I figured until recently it went to 1.5 every 3,000 miles then 1.5 qts every 1,000 miles. Also runs rough under strain at highway speed. Tach jumps up and down. I also live at 3000 elevation. Dealer said oxygen sensor tested fine, all OK. No comment on the oil??

oil burning fix - just maybe if you are lucky.

This may be unbelievable but true.
My ML320 with 90,000 miles used a quart about every 1,000 miles. It also ran rough. I paid my dealer $75 to computer read the engine. He suggested $250 for a new EGR Valve installed. I wanted to check this site 1st. I was told to check the EGR Tube. It turns out it was totally plugged. I cleaned it. I also added Gummout Emission control cleaner to the gas. I run Mystery oil in each tank currently. My ML320 has used no oil for the last 3,000 miles. I am dumb founded.
The origional owner told me it used a quart every 1,000-1500 miles since NEW.
Go figure.

How many miles are on it now? Do you know if it has suffered from the FSS 10,000+ mile oil changes or has it had more frequent changes in its life?

suffering oil changes?

The origional owner changed it around the 9,000 mile area. Based on what he was told, he was changing it early.
The computer would have had him go 12,000 miles between changes.
He used Mobil One. His last change was at 88,000. I added a quart every 800+- miles to 95,000.
I changed it at 95,000 and it has used no oil as of 98,100 today.
I wish I knew why. I wrote penzoil - maker of gummout.. no answer. Some stuck emission valve I guess. I hope by sprreading the word, I can save people anguish.
