W210 add heated seats?

Is it possible to modify the front seat(s) of my wife's 1996 E300D to make them heated? OK, now is it reasonably affordable?

Our dealer said that it would require something like a chassis re-wire, and don't even think about it, or something to that effect (wife's translation.)
