SRS light still on

Bought by 91 300TE a few years ago, on the drive home, the SRS light would blink when the steering wheel was turned. I figured it need the steering wheel contacts replaced. I finally had it taken to the shop to have just the steering wheel contacts replaced. They completed the work i requested, but the SRS light is still on. Any advice on what to check next?

Thanks

If the parts they replaced were only a few bucks (spring contacts)then you may have to spring for the ~$80 horn hub. This is the brass spiral looking thingy on the back of the steering wheel that the contacts touch. The other part I replaced (needlessly) was the SRS contact, about $30, that involves taking the entire lower dash off and getting down into the steering column.

if they didn't clear the codes after performing the work requested, the light will still be on.

Thanks for the ideas. I'll clear the codes and shoot some compressed air in there.

The parts they replaced are:
124-464-02-28 Contact Ring $108.81
126-464-09-43 Contact Piece $47.80

Labor $169.00

I was told by three independants that installing the above parts requires a special tool which they didn't have. All recommended I go to the dealer. I'm hoping any remaining work can be done by myself or an independant.

Thanks!
Gebhard
