123 diesel turbo

A mechanic noticed my turbo overboost valve has been bypassed, the car seems to run fine. I have owned this 'Benz for a short time and would not know about a problem. Said mechanic guessed the valve is not operable, and that returning to stock is not a big deal, if you know the routing. However, I may need new air lines. Any input is helpful. Bob
