E420 Climate Control Panel Light

The illumination light behind the climate control panel of my 1997 E420 would not light up unless I tap on the adjacent wood panel. I have to do this every time when I switch the lights on at night. Is this a sign of a failing light bulb or is there a loose electrical connection behind the panel? How do I go about how to remove the climate control panle out to check the backside?

Thanks, Garry

I'll assume this is a US spec car with ACC. Radio removal tools, its just like pulling a radio and the bulb is right up on top and is serviceable. Sounds to me like the bulb is going.

Do you have to have the MB radio removal tool to remove the radio/AC control panels? Are there other options?

Thanks
