Coolant Change

I now have the green coolant in my 1992 300e. I'd like to flush it out and re-fill with the M-B coolant.

Can someone direct me to the instructions as to how to do the flush and fill?

There is a drain at the passenger side lower edge of the radiator and one on the passenger side rear of the block behind the exhaust manifold.

Drain the coolant, dispose of it responsibly, fill it with water and run it a little, then drain the water. If you suspect a gunky system get some radiator flush at the parts store and follow the instructions. Then fill it up with coolant.

There have been some heated controversies here about what anti freeze to use. The most important thing is to change it regularly whatever you choose.

Good luck,

Zerex G-05 is supposed to be about (or is) the same as the factory fluid. Their website says that is is approved my MB also.

You can cold flush the system by removing the heater hose at the rear LH side of the head and use a garden host to flush the engine and heater core circuit. You can rig up adapters with plumbing supplies.

Drain the coolant cold, then flush. When changing from green to G-05, I'd also recommend a couple of hot flushes - fill the system with water, start the engine and run it until the thermostat is open for at least five minute, then drain.

Allow about an hour between hot flushes to let the engine cool down.
