Question E series bumper impact strip?

How does the front bumper impact strip install on my 94 e420? Does it just press/snap on? Anyone bought a new aftermarket one? How is the quality? Anyone know the source for a new aftermarket front bumper cover with air dam?

There's a bunch of places out on the net. Check google. Here's one...

I had to replace mine some years ago due to damage by a large piece of lumber that fell off a truck at highway speeds.

It's proabably pretty close to how yours will fit.

Bought at the dealer for about $110 back in 1999.

Deinstall of the old strip is harder than install. You have to gain access to the clips from the inside of the bumper, necessitating removal of the entire front section...could be an afternoon job!

...or...

Like me, remove the screws for the euro plate panel and the bracket for the temperature sensor, and pry a screwdriver against one side of the old strip to release enough to get a good grip on it...

...then PULL!!!

You can yank the whole strip off without damage to the front bumper, and it takes a few seconds!

The new impact strip just clips right on. Start on one side and work the strip onto the bumper as you feel the clips "click" into place.

The whole job took me a little over an hour from start to finish...
