Ignition switch...HELP!!!
We are in the process of changing the ignition switch in my sons 1986 190e 2.3 16 valve and we pulled the old one and got ready to install the new one when we noticed the part numbers were different and there wasnt that white rectangular peice in it. I checked Mercedes Shop for the part number (ran the old one) and it came up as the one we had. So does anyone know what could be differnt or if we need that white peice? Check them out.
The old one is on the left and the part number is 124 462 03 93 and the new one is on the right and the part number is 202 545 01 04 The new one is a smidge shorter...Anyone know? Oh yea does anyone know what in the world this thing is? When we went to take off the lower dash panel (the one by your feet) I moved some wires to take it off and it fell out by the ignition area, we are puzzled and have no clue what it goes to. Due to size here is a link to it. What is it? Thanks for all the help. Ross Kennedy |

That is the replacement switch. Just install it. The rectangular plastic piece is a theft deterent that means the key has to be turned to a certain position to remove the switch.
