1999 SL500 windows

Just bought a 1999, SL500 with 25,000 miles.

Infared key doesn't seem to want to open the windows, even after reset. There seems to be a place on the door handle for the infared receiver, but I'd swear it appears to be "blacked out".

Also, the door sensors don't light up. Are they supposed to?
