560SL - I Smell Gas

With the top down I can smell gas vapors when the engine is hot. The idle is erratic at times when the fumes are evident. I also can hear the fuel tank pump running constantly at times.

Last year I found fuel distributor plumbing leaks and tightened - not leaking now. Three years ago (2,000 miles) I replaced the electrohydraulic actuator. Four years ago (3,000 miles) I replaced the fuel pressure regulator.

Any suggestions as to where to look? TIA.

Frank

There is a fuel vapor tank just above the fuel tank, have replaced many of them on SL's for fuel odor.

Thanks M.B. Doc!

Can I get to it for replacement without dropping the tank?

Should any flex hoses be replaced at the same time?

Any idea why I'm hearing the pressure pump run so much - even at idle? Any chance of a fuel pump relay being stuck?

TIA.
Frank
