W124 260E shaking

After i got gas today my car started shaking and felt like it was misfiring and going to stall out. I don't know why it would start after i bought gas, before it was running fine and alls i did was fill it up, check the oil and clean the windows. I have a feeling that it is in need of a new distributor cap, rotor and wires because they are all old. I just wanted to know you guys opinion. Its also 85* here (car seems to run best when its cooler, low 70s) if that makes any difference.

Thanks in advance
James

I'm wondering if there was some water mixed in with the gas. Just my 2 pennies...

I concur with the previous post. Was the gas station where you filled up your normal gas station or was a first time visit (infrequent visit) to that station? If it is your normal station that you filled up at has the management or ownership changed as of late?

You may want to call the station and ask if they have had any other complaints concerning the gasoline sold there as of late. Also, if part of chain, do not hesitate to call Customer Service of the name brand to inquire or complain. Here in Guatemala, about 8 months ago Shell distribuited to many of the franchises a bad batch of VPower that caused the exact same symptoms that you describe. Those taht complained, supposably received a full refund from Shell.

Yeah, the watery gas thing happened to me last fall.
There are probably a number of other possibilities on the fuel side, however.

hey there paisano!

Sorry for the off-topic post, but it is not often that you find a mercedes enthusiast that is also a paisan...

By the way, I just had this happen to me on our 86' 300E, I took the idle valve out and cleaned it with carburator cleaner (it was a bit dirty). That fixed it for a day, now I am thinking it could be the overvoltage protection relay, which was a source for the same problem a while back. Hope this helps...
